Eleanor Jane Studio
I have had a love of handwritten letters since a child, when I would exchange thank you letters, postcards and catch up letters with my friends and family and letters to and from Father Christmas (the writing on his mysteriously disappeared an hour later).
As a ’grown up’ I still much prefer a handwritten, physical letter to emails, texts and even ‘phone calls. There’s something magical and special about opening an envelope, taking out crisp, good quality paper and realising that someone has thought enough of you to put their words on paper.
Lockdown had changed my letter writing. Letters to and from abroad were taking months and I couldn’t go and browse in my favourite stationary shops. So I started to paint my own.
Some rearrangement of our house meant that I gained my own tiny studio. I love sitting in my studio painting, looking out over the countryside and thinking of the people to whom I shall send the letters.
Having the studio has also meant I can now offer my stationery to others. I enjoy doing the illustrations so much, my range will quickly increase.
